Welcome to the Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association High School Rowing Team!

This years Parents and Rowers meeting is Wednesday March 17 at 8:00pm at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena. For the full 2010 schedule, see below.

The Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association's high school program will be entering it's fourth season in the spring of 2010. After competing favorably in the 2009 season, the team hopes to bring home several medals this spring. Come join us on the water! Find out more about Learn to row here...

To aid in the promotion and development of a strong and enduring High School Rowing Program, the CLRA is seeking the assistance of parents in the form of a Parent Boosters group. The Parent Boosters is the group which supports the program through seeking out volunteers, helping with regatta plans and transportation, cheering on the students while they are rowing at practices and especially at competitions, and performing other similar tasks as they choose.

Rowing IS:

• A sport that nearly anyone can participate in!
• The ULTIMATE Team Sport!
• A TOTAL Body Low Impact Workout!
• FUN! FUN! FUN!!!

Scholarships:

Currently in the United States, there are more scholarships available from colleges and Universities for students who wish to row than there are students with rowing experience applying (this is particularly true for girls). Schools which do not offer scholarships often give admissions preference to students who plan to row. Rowing with the CLRA could lead to one of these scholarships in the future.

The relationship between the CLRA and area high schools is comparable to that of the Lakers Hockey Program. We have no official sponsorship from the schools however, they have committed themselves to supporting the program by allowing the CLRA to recruit rowers from the student body. Our hope is that as interest in the sport of rowing grows, there will come a day when some area schools will develop an official relationship with the sport of rowing so that students will become eligible to earn letters for their participation.
