Chautauqua Lake Rowing Procedures - Policies

CLRA Bylaws

Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association is a 501(c)3 New York State Non-Profit Corporation. The organization operates under a document titled "Bylaws of the Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association".

Background Screening

All coaches / helpers who participate with the high school team must have a background screening completed. Click the link at the right to read the process to follow. Screening is good for two years. Upon expiration coach / helper must resubmit for background screening.

CLRA Child Policy

This is currently the sum total of CLRA's policy on children not in a CLRA program: Children under the age of 13 not participating in an active CLRA program shall not be permitted in or around the CLRA Boathouse or aboard CLRA watercraft unless accompanied by, and under the direct supervision of a parent, grandparent or guardian. The child will wear a life jacket when on or near the water. No child is allowed to be on or near the water unless the combined water/air temperature is at least 90 degrees.

CLRA Cold Water Rule

Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association has developed a policy for members to follow during periods of cold weather and water. Caution is always advised when the water is cold as any water immersion can present a serious health risk. 

CLRA SafeSport Policy

Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association, as a member of US Rowing, has developed a SafeSport Policy. This policy provides guidance and procedures regarding misconduct in areas as bullying, harassment, hazing, emotional misconduct, physical misconduct, and sexual misconduct including child sexual abuse. 

Code of Conduct Policy

This policy was adopted December, 2019, and revised May, 2020.  All adult members (masters, rec, coxswains, seasonal, etc. must read and sign one of these Code of Conduct Policy forms each season. A second link for this policy is located on the Masters / Rec Registration page.

Concussion Policy

To comply with the requirements of US Rowing and also to help members, both adults and youth, along with coaches, become aware of the possibility of concussions and its symptoms, CLRA has developed this policy. Although it is rare in a sport like rowing, contact with hard objects may result in a concussion.

Boat Storage Agreement

For anyone wishing to store a boat at the CLRA boathouse, they must first be a current year paid up member and pay an additional boat storage fee. Review the full details in the form by following the link at the right.
